In the journey of life, it’s okay for me to stop and ask for directions.

If I ever reach an unexpected place and I don’t know where to go, it's okay to stop and ask for help. It’s good to try and figure things out by myself, but sometimes I need guidance from others. Getting directions from others takes me through avenues I may not have taken on my own.

One thing I know is that I do not know everything. It would be foolish to rely on my own understanding and strength.

I seek the counsel of older, wiser people and learn from their testimonies. My sisters, parents, pastors, and friends are all sources of knowledge. These trusted resources will guide me to my destination.

I learn from their examples and from their mistakes. Their stories inspire me and give me strength. Learning from the experiences of others is a skill that will save me a lot of heart ache. Life is too short to make the same mistakes someone else has already made.

As I go through life, I must remember that wrong turns are bound to happen. What I do after I take that turn is what counts. That is why I stop and ask for directions. I do not wander aimlessly and confused. I ask for guidance for all major crossroads in my life, and continue on my way.

I remind myself that it’s okay to ask for help. After all, others have so much knowledge to offer. I am courageous enough to admit when I am lost. It would be foolish to allow my pride to hold me back. My pride cannot be stronger than my will to find a way to great success.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Do I try to do everything on my own or do I listen to the input of others?
  2. What is more important to me: my pride or my desire to succeed?
  3. What are some areas in my life where I could use the wisdom of another person?

I react well in the presence of chaos.

I do not allow chaos to get the best of me. I am calm and in control of my emotions.

Disorder cannot steal my peace because my peace comes from above and not from my surroundings.

I do not lose my temper. Losing control in the midst of chaos only produces more chaos. When I feel myself getting anxious, I stop and give myself time to think before I act.

I believe that my actions are a representation of what is in my heart. Therefore, I fill my heart with positive things. My heart overflows with wisdom, joy, peace, love, and faith. When I react, these are the things that come out of me.

When a difficult situation arises, I know what to do because I am resourceful. I think outside the box and work toward solutions. Failure cannot deter me. Failures are necessary in life to prevent me from becoming complacent.

I am resilient under pressure. Staying motivated is the key to my success. My goals are clear and I make sure that all my actions bring me closer to my goals. I strive to live a life with no regrets.

Being responsible and preparing properly for situations helps me avoid chaos. When circumstances are beyond my control and I find myself in the midst of chaos, I do not drown in it. I use positive thoughts as my life-saver.

I keep things in perspective, reminding myself that this too shall pass. By keeping the big picture in mind I can overcome any storm.
