Turning Past Failures into Present Success

We all have failures in our past because no one is perfect. And that's okay! Failure is a part of life, and though it can hurt both physically and mentally when we fail, it is a part of learning who we are, what we are good at, and what we are meant to do with our lives.

The problem that many of us have is that we allow our failures to dominates our lives. Failure is simply a chance to try again, to start over, and to become more motivated!

When you look at your past failures in a more positive light you will easily able to turn those less than positive experiences in the past into great experiences.

Your Past Failures Are Present Opportunities

When many people fail at something they simply take their ball and go home with their head down. In other words, they give up and they allow their not-so-good experience to keep them from trying new things, from pushing forward, and experiencing success right now. When you choose to think of failure as an opportunity, you suddenly have the ability to turn your failures into exciting opportunities. When you change the way you look at failure you change the way it controls your life.

A great way to turn your past failures into present success or opportunities for success is to try again! Yes, you read right. It's as simple as trying again.

If you failed at something in the past it doesn't mean that you won't ever be able to succeed. For example, if you failed at an entrance exam for a college and you simply gave up and never tried again, what good would that do? Instead, take what you learned from that experience, study more, and then try again! Apply what you learned the first time around to your next go around with the exam and you just may be a success.

A lot of people allow failure to hold them back from meaningful, positive relationships. They may be afraid that they just will never find happiness after a failed relationship, but this is not true. The failure gives you a chance to look within yourself and see all that you have to give. Perhaps the failure will make you see that you expected too much, too little, or were just attracted to the wrong people. When you allow the failure to become an opportunity to look within you can turn those past relationship failures into present successes.

Overcoming failure is as simple as using the experience as an opportunity to learn more about yourself or the world around you. Positive affirmations are a tool that you can use to help you overcome your failures and make them present day successes. In those moments where you are tempted to allow the failure to hold you back instead of pushing you forward, you can say something as simple as, "I give myself permission to be successful." You can use this to re-program the way you think about your past failures, effectively changing your life one thought at a time.

Using self-reflection helps me identify my accomplishments and plan my future goals. This is an important skill that I integrate into my life on a daily basis.

I am grateful that I have been given the tool of self-reflection. I take time to acknowledge my achievements and my hopes. By pausing to look back, I am more driven to move forward.

Through a thoughtful study of my successes and my failures, I allow myself to grow. I want to live a life of growth because I do not want to have a stagnant existence.

Personal growth and reflection is a necessary action because it allows me to learn more about myself. As I learn more about myself, I am able to use my talents more effectively. Self-reflection is such an invaluable tool.
