Silence is rewarding, so I indulge it as often as possible.

Silence is rewarding, so I indulge it as often as I can. I do not feel the need to have a constant swirl of noise around me. I do not need to have the television on constantly. I do not need the radio while I'm driving. I have no obligation to answer my phone when it rings.

Allowing myself to be still calms my heart rate and my blood pressure, leading to greater health and longevity. I am rewarded by better and deeper sleep. Lower levels of adrenaline keep me from responding in hair-trigger fashion to crises. I indulge in silence because it is good for my body.

Silence is also important for my mind, allowing me to absorb and retain the important information I have recently learned, rather than allowing it to be dissipated in the chaos around me.

Perhaps most importantly, silence nourishes my spirit. My thoughts and feelings are at the center of my creative self. When I afford myself silence, I increase my own creativity.

I actively seek out peaceful silence. When I walk, I allow myself to tune into the lessons of nature. When I am working, I prefer silence over the static of canned voices. When I am with friends and family, I do not feel obligated to fill up space with empty chatter.

I do not treat silence as an intruder, but as a friend that I welcome with open arms, knowing that he comes with my best interests at heart.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. What function does noise play in my life?
  2. What sources of noise in my life could be silenced?
  3. Do I treat silence as a friend or as an adversary?

I exercise both my body and mind.

I honor myself by exercising my physical body and by stretching my mind.

I take care of my body by exercising regularly, because of this I am healthy and strong. I take the time to stretch my mind by learning, praying, and meditating. When I open my mind to new ideas and expressive thought I am building a better me.

When I take time to exercise both my body and mind, I am honoring my Creator by taking care of the wonderful gift of life. Life is an incredible gift. And I deserve to respect this gift, because I am worth it.

Whether I am running on a treadmill at the gym or in a swimming class, when I exercise my body I am acknowledging that I respect myself. Reading books, taking classes, praying, and meditating are ways that I expand and exercise my mind. I am whole and I feel good when I exercise.

Exercising my body and my mind allows me to unite with my Creator in a connected way. My body and my mind are of equal importance and honoring this gift helps me to grow and become a more centered being. When I run, I am free. When I learn, I am lifted. When I honor my wholeness of mind and body, I am at peace.

Today I will respect and honor myself by exercising my body and my mind because this is how I can show myself love.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. What have I learned today?
  2. How do my body and my mind before, during, and after I exercise?
  3. How will I honor this gift of life, today?

I react well in the presence of chaos.

I do not allow chaos to get the best of me. I am calm and in control of my emotions.

Disorder cannot steal my peace because my peace comes from above and not from my surroundings.

I do not lose my temper. Losing control in the midst of chaos only produces more chaos. When I feel myself getting anxious, I stop and give myself time to think before I act.

I believe that my actions are a representation of what is in my heart. Therefore, I fill my heart with positive things. My heart overflows with wisdom, joy, peace, love, and faith. When I react, these are the things that come out of me.

When a difficult situation arises, I know what to do because I am resourceful. I think outside the box and work toward solutions. Failure cannot deter me. Failures are necessary in life to prevent me from becoming complacent.

I am resilient under pressure. Staying motivated is the key to my success. My goals are clear and I make sure that all my actions bring me closer to my goals. I strive to live a life with no regrets.

Being responsible and preparing properly for situations helps me avoid chaos. When circumstances are beyond my control and I find myself in the midst of chaos, I do not drown in it. I use positive thoughts as my life-saver.

I keep things in perspective, reminding myself that this too shall pass. By keeping the big picture in mind I can overcome any storm.
