Because my life is filled with calm and joy, I am not afraid of the future. I let go of things I cannot control and enjoy this moment that I am in.
I let stress and negativity flow through me unimpeded and choose instead to feed positive thoughts, knowing that what I nurture will grow and expand in me, squeezing out those thoughts that I choose to neglect.
Peace is my natural state of being. Over time I have learned to respond with fear and tension, but I know that I was not created to be this way. As I practice allowing peace into my mind, I am making it easier and easier for myself to return to my natural state of childlike confidence in my Provider and in the strength with which He has equipped me.
I know that my new state of peacefulness is leading me toward greater health and creativity. I look forward to the future.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- How do I respond when negative thoughts pop up in my mind?
- What evidence do I see in my life of an increasing trend toward peaceful living?
- How has my life improved since I decided to foster peace in my life?

Using self-reflection helps me identify my accomplishments and plan my future goals. This is an important skill that I integrate into my life on a daily basis.
I am grateful that I have been given the tool of self-reflection. I take time to acknowledge my achievements and my hopes. By pausing to look back, I am more driven to move forward.
Through a thoughtful study of my successes and my failures, I allow myself to grow. I want to live a life of growth because I do not want to have a stagnant existence.
Personal growth and reflection is a necessary action because it allows me to learn more about myself. As I learn more about myself, I am able to use my talents more effectively. Self-reflection is such an invaluable tool.
I cannot move forward if I do not recognize my past. Too often, I am so busy trying to push ahead that I do not take the time to evaluate my actions.
I am hesitant to pause because I fear I may lose my momentum, but I realize this worry is unfounded. When I take the time for self-reflection, I am more able to approach my life with a clearer focus and a more determined mindset.
When I employ self-reflection, I am filled with hope. I enjoy thinking about how I overcame obstacles and how I will achieve my future goals. Employing self-reflection gives me motivation because I feel I have a fuller understanding of how I want to proceed with my life.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- Do I devote a certain time of my day for self-reflection?
- Do I give myself credit for achieving goals?
- How can I use self-reflection to plan future accomplishments?

If I ever reach an unexpected place and I don’t know where to go, it's okay to stop and ask for help. It’s good to try and figure things out by myself, but sometimes I need guidance from others. Getting directions from others takes me through avenues I may not have taken on my own.
One thing I know is that I do not know everything. It would be foolish to rely on my own understanding and strength.
I seek the counsel of older, wiser people and learn from their testimonies. My sisters, parents, pastors, and friends are all sources of knowledge. These trusted resources will guide me to my destination.
I learn from their examples and from their mistakes. Their stories inspire me and give me strength. Learning from the experiences of others is a skill that will save me a lot of heart ache. Life is too short to make the same mistakes someone else has already made.
As I go through life, I must remember that wrong turns are bound to happen. What I do after I take that turn is what counts. That is why I stop and ask for directions. I do not wander aimlessly and confused. I ask for guidance for all major crossroads in my life, and continue on my way.
I remind myself that it’s okay to ask for help. After all, others have so much knowledge to offer. I am courageous enough to admit when I am lost. It would be foolish to allow my pride to hold me back. My pride cannot be stronger than my will to find a way to great success.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- Do I try to do everything on my own or do I listen to the input of others?
- What is more important to me: my pride or my desire to succeed?
- What are some areas in my life where I could use the wisdom of another person?

Silence is rewarding, so I indulge it as often as I can. I do not feel the need to have a constant swirl of noise around me. I do not need to have the television on constantly. I do not need the radio while I'm driving. I have no obligation to answer my phone when it rings.
Allowing myself to be still calms my heart rate and my blood pressure, leading to greater health and longevity. I am rewarded by better and deeper sleep. Lower levels of adrenaline keep me from responding in hair-trigger fashion to crises. I indulge in silence because it is good for my body.
Silence is also important for my mind, allowing me to absorb and retain the important information I have recently learned, rather than allowing it to be dissipated in the chaos around me.
Perhaps most importantly, silence nourishes my spirit. My thoughts and feelings are at the center of my creative self. When I afford myself silence, I increase my own creativity.
I actively seek out peaceful silence. When I walk, I allow myself to tune into the lessons of nature. When I am working, I prefer silence over the static of canned voices. When I am with friends and family, I do not feel obligated to fill up space with empty chatter.
I do not treat silence as an intruder, but as a friend that I welcome with open arms, knowing that he comes with my best interests at heart.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- What function does noise play in my life?
- What sources of noise in my life could be silenced?
- Do I treat silence as a friend or as an adversary?

I take time out each weekend to do something I enjoy. The goal of this time is simply relaxation. I let go of the idea that every activity has to have a higher purpose.
I also get rid of the idea that someone else can better tell me how to spend my time. This is my time, and I am the only person qualified to tell me how it should be spent. I know myself best and trust myself to choose an activity that is regenerating to me. Whether others understand the appeal or value of my choice is unimportant.
I relax by doing things I enjoy and engage in it whole-heartedly. I indulge in it for at least an hour, without guilt, knowing that in doing so, I am bringing out my best self.
Indulging my interests routinely leads to lower stress levels, which improve my sleep and my health. These, in turn, increase my productivity.
Pursuing my interests also opens up my creative centers, allowing me to access parts of myself that need peace and rest to blossom. I become a better person when I entertain my passions.
Taking time out for myself also releases calming endorphins, which make me more relaxed, more pleasant, and more focused. Not only do I benefit from this time, but so do those who surround me.
Each weekend, I take time out to nourish myself, without guilt, so that I can continue to be my own best self.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- What excuses do I give for not taking the time I need to nourish myself?
- What activities do find most refreshing?
- What can I do today to ensure an hour for my own relaxation this weekend?
