Top 5 Tips for Carpal Tunnel

The small bones in your wrists and hands are called carpals. The carpal tunnel is where the nerves and tendons that allow you to move your hand can be found. It also contains a cytoskeletal structure. The carpal tunnel becomes narrow whenever you bend your wrist or there is inflammation in your hand.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome develops over time. The reduced size of the tunnels causes pressure on the nerves, as well as reduces their size too. If you don’t get help for this problem, you could lose partial use of your hands. Pain that occurs after certain movements that happen again and again is a possible symptom of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Here are some suggestions to reduce your risks.

  • Rest Your Hands
If your job requires typing and other repetitive movements, you should make sure you stop and rest your hands and wrists from time to time. This will prevent inflammation.
  • Watch How You Sleep
Sleeping in a position where your hands are bent all night can lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. If you do this, you will probably have pain and tingling in your hands in the morning.
  • Treat All Wrist Injuries
Any injury to your wrist should be carefully checked by a physician to make sure there is no damage to the nerves. If you break your wrist, it needs to be set the right way so no nerve damage occurs. Use caution during activities with the potential for wrist or hand damage.
  • Pay Attention to Bodily Changes
If you experience swelling, make sure it is due to a change like pregnancy and not a symptom of a cyst or other problem with your hands or wrists.
  • Take Precautions
If you type or do other similar activities all day, consider wearing a brace to protect your wrists and hands. Make sure you have furniture and computer accessories that are ergonomically correct and will prevent damage to your hands and wrists. This can help you avoid the pain and suffering of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
