Take a Hike! Go Cycling and Get Fit!
Kids love riding bikes and they do it as often as they can. They often go for long bike rides and this is actually a great form of exercise. Many adults used to ride bikes as children but don’t think about doing it anymore. They should, though, because cycling is fun and great for the body.
A Great Cardio Workout
Riding a bike is a great way to get a cardiovascular workout. It is a fun way to get your 30 minutes of exercise several times a week. You can make your bike ride as easy or as challenging as you like and increase your challenge as you gain strength. You can go cycling on a higher gear or on a more challenging terrain.
Easy on the Joints
Riding a bike is a safe exercise because there is little or no impact on the joints. Women should consider cycling for exercise since they are more likely to have joint and bone problems like osteoporosis. You get a similar workout on a bike to what you would get if you went for a jog. In order to get the healthiest and safest bike ride, make sure the bike is adjusted to fit you correctly, which will give you more range of motion and better circulation.
Biking Works Out Those Legs Muscles
You will really give your leg muscles a workout when riding a bike. As you become stronger, you can ride faster and farther to continue your leg muscle development. Make sure you remember to stretch prior to and after riding so you don’t injure yourself.
You’ll get a better workout if you don’t ride the same way at the same place every time. Alternate between speedy rides on a flat surface and challenging hill climbs at a slower pace. That way all the muscles in your legs will get an equal workout.
Get a Toned Body
After cycling for awhile, you will notice that your rear end looks better than ever. You will lose extra weight and your muscles will become more toned. The best way to do this is to ride with your rear end elevated slightly above the bike seat.
When you go cycling regularly, you will also increase your sense of balance. You have to carefully balance in order to get on and stay on the bike and after a while, it just comes naturally. You actually use your core muscles like your abs to balance so cycling is a good workout for these muscles as well. Keeping your core muscles strong helps you do all exercises safely and without injury.
Cycling is not just for your kids. It is a fun way to improve your health and enjoy being outside while get in shape.
