The Truth About Stretch Marks Video

by Rachel Johnson on April 20th, 2009

This video is hosted by Dr. Erika and she spends some time addressing stretch marks.  Stretch marks are something that both men and women of all ages may have to deal with.  Many people see their first stretch marks after a pregnancy or after a weight gain and then weight loss.

The bad news is that stretch marks are generally not going to go away once you have them, though they will fade a bit. They are caused by skin that is not pliable enough to stretch with the changes in your body.  You can use coconut oil during pregnancy to help the skin stretch and hopefully avoid stretch marks or limit them, but because it is based on genetics, you may not have a choice but to live with them.

Key Points from this Video:

  • Stretch marks are permanent
  • Stretch marks are genetic.
  • Stretch marks are caused from weight fluctuations.
  • If the skin is not pliable enough you’ll get stretch marks.
  • Coconut oil can help during pregnancy.
