In this video Dr. Erika talks about the new prevalence of shingles in our society. Shingles should be diagnosed earlier to help ease the symptoms with early treatments.   While shingles was only a disease of the elderly in the past this is no longer the case, which means that everyone has to be on the lookout for the symptoms associated with it.

Despite the higher frequency of shingles in our society, treatment is an option.  There are many medications now that will slow the process of the disease and reduce symptoms to make it more tolerable.  Of course, this requires that one catches it early so treatment can begin.  With proper treatment shingles will have no lasting effects.
