Secrets to Losing Weight: Bodyweight Exercises

Do you want to lose weight but you don’t have the extra money to spend on exercise machines or even a membership to the gym? Don’t despair! You are still perfectly capable of losing your excess weight by using nothing but your own body.

We are talking about bodyweight exercises, which are simply exercises that you can do wherever you are and without the use of any kind of machine. The term bodyweight exercises may be new to you but as you will soon see, the concept is really something that is very familiar.

What You Can Get from Bodyweight Exercises

In the past few years, the process of losing weight has become quite commercialized. With all the weight loss pills, diet programs and exercise machines being advertised everywhere, losing weight has evolved into an entire business all its own.

The funny thing is that you don’t really need any of those fancy equipment or special pills in order to trim down. All you really need is your own body weight; you already have all the weight loss tools you need!

The most obvious advantage of bodyweight exercises is that you can do it at absolutely no cost, unless of course, you want to pay yourself, which is also a good way of rewarding yourself for taking care of your body.

Another great thing about bodyweight exercises is that it has a double purpose. First, you will be losing weight because of the physical exertion. Second, you will be improving your metabolism, which will make you lose weight even without the physical exertion. Obviously, there’s no way you can lose if you use bodyweight exercises as your primary weight loss method.

There are certain diets and pills that can make you lose weight fast, but these will give only temporary results and make you look skinny and malnourished. With bodyweight exercises, you will be losing weight the healthy way and instead of looking like a sack of bones, you will have a body that is well-toned and perfectly chiseled, thanks to the muscle development that will come with the physical training.

How to Execute Bodyweight Exercises

The proper way of executing bodyweight exercises is by using a combination of a few different routines to ensure that all the muscles of the body will be well developed and that you will lose weight proportionately. Here are some of the most common routines used in bodyweight training:

  • Sit-ups
  • Push-ups
  • Squats
  • Crunches
  • Pull-ups
  • Leg Lifts
  • Mountain climber

A typical bodyweight exercise routine would involve just about 10 reps of each of these exercises, which really aren’t all that much. However, that short routine that takes just about 20 minutes is enough to burn a huge amount of fat and firm up all your muscles, not to mention release enough endorphins to make you feel great for the rest of the day. With all these benefits, it’s very easy to see that bodyweight exercises definitely rank among the best things that you can do to lose weight and live a healthier life.
