Wedding Stress Tips - A Wedding Stress Survival Guide

Keeping Your Cool on Your Wedding Day

“Calm down, it’s okay, it’s just the biggest day of your life.”  That’s what you’re thinking right now, anyway.  Later, you’ll find out that the most important day was the one when you forgot an anniversary or birthday.  Or perhaps the day you didn’t support your spouse when they needed you.  The point is, your ‘big day’ is important, but not the only big day of your life… and realizing this might help in reducing wedding stress.

If not, then try these wedding stress tips to help turn your wedding day into something you can look back on as a fond memory.  After all, your wedding day is all about love, and love was meant to be enjoyed.

  • Learn To Delegate: Don’t try to handle everything yourself.  Allow capable family members to help… even if they don’t get things exactly the way you want them, don’t sweat it. The more you let others help, the closer you’ll be to a stress free wedding.
  • Loosen Control: This goes hand in hand with the first tip.  Don’t stress the small stuff.  If the decorations aren’t perfect, you’re probably the only one who’ll notice.  A stress free wedding means one without a bridezilla barking orders at the guests and those trying to help.  Relax, the day is for you.  Enjoy the path instead of trying to forge through the underbrush.
  • Lean On Each Other: You and your fiancé should take the first step together… that’s what you’re preparing to do for the rest of your life.  Help and support each other, you’ll both be reducing wedding stress with your emotional connection.
  • Know What’s Normal: Don’t feel weird that you’re anxious and nervous.  It is a big decision, and you’re perfectly justified in feeling a little edgy.  You’re not having premonitions of doom… you’re just normal.
  • Try The Underwear Trick: As you’re standing before the crowd reciting your vows, you might feel a little stage fright.  This is the big moment, and your wedding stress could come to a peak here.  Try imagining everyone in their undies, and don’t be afraid to laugh about it.  As long as you can get the words out, people will just assume you’re laughing because you’re happy.
  • Eat Healthy: Your wedding day is probably filled with non-stop activity.  You might be looking forward to that big catered meal you paid so much for.  Do yourself a favor and eat something nice and healthy in the days ahead of the wedding.  Many couples barely get a chance to chew a few pieces of roast before they’re rushed off to do the wedding cake, first dance, or mingle with the guests.  And you’ll want to be in prime condition when you reach the honeymoon suite.

If the months preceding your wedding day seem to drain you of your energy, try talking to a stress coach to help you reduce your wedding stress.  It can help you relax, and be better prepared for your big day… along with giving you a pre-course on how to get through that day without pulling your hair out.

The biggest wedding stress tip that anyone can give you is to focus the stress you do have and allow it to help you accomplish the things that you really have to do… the things you can’t let anyone else do for you.  Get to the altar on time, say I DO, and let the night take its course.
