Exercise will improve your health and your self-confidence. We can’t always judge the state of our health by what we look like on the outside; what’s happening inside our body is the more important indicator of our health.

Thin Does Not Mean Healthy

Many people wrongly assume that thin people are healthy; even those who hardly have an ounce of fat in their body can and do have health problems. However, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t aim to have a healthy weight. True, people who are carrying extra weight are more at risk for many health problems, but thin people can have the same health problems as well.

Exercise and Weight Loss

Exercising can do a lot for your body. Weight loss is the best thing exercise can do for you. Obesity can lead to many different health problems. In fact, people who are overweight and obese are more at risk for having heart disease, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and joint problems.

People who lose the excess weight through exercising lower their health risks significantly for these conditions and their existing medical problems usually get better or go away altogether.

Exercise is the best way to reduce health risks, because all the major benefits you can derive from exercising are, in some way, tied to the problem of excess weight and obesity. The changes you will experience when you lose weight through exercise are amazing. You may not realize just how much you are doing for your health, but by exercising, you’re lowering your risk of dying prematurely from diseases.

The Psychological Benefits of Exercise

Not only does exercise improve physical health, it improves mental health as well. When you are in good health, you are much happier, more relaxed and much better at dealing with stress. Our body deals with all the stress we encounter every day.

A lot of people have stressful jobs and this can significantly affect health. If you work in a high-stress job, your body won’t be able to function properly; in fact, if you are constantly subjected to high levels of stress, you’re very likely to develop serious or even fatal medical conditions. Then on top of the stress from your job, you have stress at home as well. All these can take a toll on your body, unless you do something about it.

This is where exercise comes in. Exercise won’t just help you lose weight, it will also help you reduce stress. Exercising helps you think more clearly because it brings in more oxygen to your brain. When you have a clear head, you’re much more able to think through situations and deal with problems better.

Exercise and Depression

Exercise is also helpful for dealing with depression. Often people are depressed because they feel like they have no control over their life at home or at work, and because they feel unattractive and useless. If you have depression, exercising will help you develop a more positive self-image and feel worthwhile.

Improving the way your body looks and feels will improve your life in many different ways. The way you see yourself has a lot to do with how happy and healthy you are and exercise can help you change your perception of things and yourself.

Exercise for a Stronger Body

Exercise will help your body, including your bones, stay strong and healthy. Bone density can be an issue for people as they age. Based on research, high impact exercising helps in strengthening the bones, particularly the bones of senior adults.

There’s no doubt about it – exercise helps the body inside and out. The fact that exercise can make you look better on the outside is just icing on the cake, so to speak.
